We believe that parents and colleagues working together is vital to ensuring a child’s individual needs are fully met and each child gets the most from their nursery experience.
Good nutrition sits at the heart of our approach to a healthy lifestyle for your child. Not only do we believe it is essential for children’s natural growth, it’s central to their concentration, learning and development too, helping them get the most from their time at our nursery.
Eating is about more than food: it is a social event too, so the nursery’s practitioners join your child’s mealtimes. This encourages interaction between children, good table manners and development of social skills. It is also the ideal way to offer your child a little help if needed, answer their questions about food and praise their independence.
Your child’s transition to solid foods can be challenging, so we will work with you to choose the best time to introduce greater variety in their meals.
Each nursery will work with families to tailor the menu to support children through the weaning process.
Our comprehensive Special Diet Procedure ensures every specific dietary need is met, with minimum fuss and maximum attention to each individual child, whether through medical, religious or other requirements.
Regular Stay and play sessions are organised at the nursery for you to participate fully in your children’s activities. Our ‘hands-on’ approach enables parent to gain an understanding into the various learning activities and experiences on offer.
Your nursery will hold Parent evenings throughout the year, providing you an opportunity to meet the nursery team and to discuss in more detail, your child’s development. These evenings also give you the opportunity to meet with other parents and staff from the nursery.
Our exclusive family website contains a variety of information about children’s development, activity videos and worksheets and offers free parent training sessions and child classes throughout the year.
You can access the site here. Please ask your nursery for the password.
We want to share the knowledge of our colleagues and other professionals with families and offer training sessions throughout the year covering first aid, school readiness, behaviour management and speech and language development to name a few. Some of these courses will be run by external professionals on Zoom.
Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They regulate and inspect to achieve excellence in the care of children and young people, and in education and skills for learners of all ages.
The Education and Inspections Act, which established the new Ofsted, specifically requires that they
Ofsted inspect our settings and carry out regulatory visits to ensure that we effectively support children through the EYFS and deliver the aims of the framework. Following an inspection of a setting, the nursery receives a full report documenting the inspectors findings. These are available to view on the nursery pages of this website.
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
