A brave Nursery Practitioner from Highbury Lodge Day Nursery in Hitchin took fundraising to new heights as she completed a charity skydive in aid of a very special cause.
During a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Australia, Cerys Penny took the leap over the coastline of Byron Bay, raising £525.00 for The Sick Children’s Trust, which helps families stay close to their seriously ill children while they receive hospital treatment.
The charity provides free, welcoming accommodation for families with children in hospital, helping to ease both the emotional and financial burden at an incredibly difficult time. Without this support, many families would face long journeys, sleepless nights in hospital waiting rooms or costly hotel stays.
Cerys’s skydive is the latest in a series of fundraising efforts supporting the charity. Most recently, colleagues from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ setting joined teams from across Childbase Partnership to take part in The Sick Children’s Trust 25km London Challenge, helping to raise £30,000 so the charity can continue supporting families when needed most.
Highbury Lodge Day Nursery Manager, Kirsty Rose said;
“We are incredibly proud of Cerys for taking on such an amazing challenge in support of The Sick Children’s Trust. Even whilst enjoying a well-deserved break, she was still thinking about how she could make a difference for children and families facing difficult circumstances. Her commitment is a wonderful reflection of the caring and compassionate nature of our colleagues.”
