Festivities were in full swing at Lime Grove Day Nursery in Hemel Hempstead as children, families and colleagues came together to celebrate the setting’s milestone 35th birthday.
The Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ setting on Park Road, which first opened its doors in 1991, marked more than three decades of providing care and early years education to generations of local children with two days of celebrations. Decorated with balloons and bunting for the occasion, the nursery welcomed parents and grandparents to a special Stay and Play session, where they joined children for activities and celebrations throughout the day.
To mark the occasion, each child received a commemorative teddy bear to take home as a keepsake, while parents were invited to raise a glass to 35 years of Lime Grove. The celebrations continued the following day as colleagues enjoyed a special pizza lunch and a selection of homemade cakes prepared by talented Kitchen Assistant, Karen.
Over the years, families and colleagues have supported a wide range of community initiatives, from donating to local food banks to taking part in litter picks to help care for their local area. Environmental action has also remained an important part of nursery life, with Lime Grove proudly holding the prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction in recognition of its commitment to sustainability.
The nursery community has also raised thousands of pounds for charitable causes over the years, including Bliss, The Trussell Trust and Mind, through everything from summer fayres and sponsored cycling challenges to sleep-out events. These efforts have contributed to the more than £4 million raised for charity throughout Childbase Partnership’s history.
Lime Grove Deputy Manager, Anna Joyce explained;
“Reaching our 35th birthday is an incredibly special milestone and has given us a wonderful opportunity to reflect on everything that has made Lime Grove what it is today. We are hugely proud of our history here in Hemel Hempstead and would like to thank all of the children, families and colleagues, past and present, who have been part of our journey. We look forward to making many more memories in the years ahead.”
