A devoted colleague from Westwood Day Nursery in Coventry has conquered the highest mountain in the British Isles, raising hundreds of pounds to help provide vital school meals to children in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
Taking on the mighty Ben Nevis in Scotland, Nursery Practitioner Salha Ally completed the challenging climb in an impressive three hours and 45 minutes, raising £800.00 for Charity Right. The charity works to tackle hunger and improve access to education by providing regular, nutritious school meals to children living in some of the world’s most disadvantaged regions, including communities in Afghanistan, Ethiopia and Sudan.
The fundraiser was also supported by the Childbase Partnership Charity Support Fund, which provides backing for worthy causes outside of the employee-owned nursery group’s adopted Charity of the Year, The Sick Children’s Trust. Colleagues across the company can apply to the fund for support with activities benefiting causes close to their hearts.
Westwood Day Nursery Practitioner, Salha Ally explained;
“This hike means so much more to me because it’s been a journey. From climbing Snowdon to Pen y Fan, every step I’ve taken in the past has led me here. Each challenge has pushed me further, strengthened my intention, and reminded me why I started. I truly couldn’t have done any of this without the people who always show up for me, donate, share and support. The generosity never goes unnoticed, and I carry it with me every single step I take.”
