There were bittersweet celebrations at Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon as pre-schoolers marked the end of their time at the setting with a special graduation event.
Dressed in their gowns and mortar boards, children from the setting on Whitehill Way were delighted to receive their scrolls of achievement and graduation gifts in front of the audience of proud parents and practitioners, before immersing themselves in all the fun on offer.
To mark the occasion, pre-schoolers were thrilled to receive a visit from a real life fire engine, giving them the chance to meet firefighters and learn about the vital role they play in keeping the community safe. The children were fascinated to explore the fire engine and were especially excited to have a turn using the fire hose themselves.
The celebrations continued with a surprise visit from an ice cream van, serving delicious treats to help families cool off in the sunshine. This was followed by a guest appearance and photo opportunities from Toy Story’s Woody, as well as two interactive baby dinosaurs.
Windmill Hill Quality Manager, Gemma Gill explained;
“Our graduation celebration was a wonderful way to recognise everything our children have achieved before they embark on their next adventure. We are so proud of them all; they have grown in confidence, formed wonderful friendships and embraced every opportunity to learn and explore. While we will miss them dearly, we know they are more than ready to begin this exciting new chapter, and we wish them every success as they start school.”
