There were learning opportunities at every turn for children at Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon as they ventured into their local area for a road safety inspection walk.
Taking to the Windmill Hill Business Park, pre-schoolers put their classroom knowledge into practice as they navigated pavements, identified road signs, and safely used zebra crossings. Guided by their practitioners, the children demonstrated their understanding of the Green Gross Code, learning to stop, look, listen and think before crossing the road.
The outing provided a valuable opportunity for the children to build confidence and awareness in a real-life setting, reinforcing key safety messages in a fun and engaging way.
Windmill Hill Nursery Manager, Kayleigh Blaylock explained;
“Experiences like this are so valuable in early years education. Not only do they build confidence and independence, but they also help children develop essential life skills that will keep them safe in their everyday lives. We are incredibly proud of how sensible, curious, and engaged the children were throughout the walk.”
