River View colleague goes a cut above for charity

A devoted colleague from River View Day Nursery in Hertford has gone the extra mile for charity by ‘braving the shave’ to raise vital funds for poorly children and their families.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on North Road, Team Leader; Charlotte Whiffin, selflessly had her hair chopped in a fundraising effort for The Sick Children’s Trust, the setting’s ‘Charity of the Year’. As a result of her efforts, Charlotte was delighted to raise £787.00 for the worthy cause, with donations still incoming from generous supporters.

The money raised will help provide families with a warm, welcoming place to stay when their child is seriously ill in hospital. Without this vital support, many families would face long journeys, sleepless nights in hospital chairs, or the cost of expensive hotel stays.

In a further act of kindness, Charlotte chose to donate her hair to The Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real-hair wigs free of charge to children and young people who have lost their hair through illness and medical treatment.

River View Team Leader, Charlotte Whiffin explained;

“I’d been wanting to cut my hair short for a while because of the maintenance that comes with having it long, and felt this would be the perfect opportunity to raise money for such a fantastic charity. We’re really looking forward to seeing the difference this money will make to the families that The Sick Children’s Trust supports.”

River View have adopted The Sick Children’s Trust for a year-long fundraising drive.
