World Book Day at Windmill Hill

‘The Crayons Book of Colour’, ‘Supertato’ and ‘The Colour Monster’ were just some of the beloved books that inspired the costumes of children and colleagues at Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon as they dressed up to celebrate World Book Day at the setting.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Windmill Hill Business Park, each age-appropriate room focused on a particular story and delivered inspired activities, from colour mixing and mark making, to exploring emotions and delving into themed story sacks.

As part of the festivities, pre-schoolers were delighted to share their favourite books with friends and impersonate beloved literary characters, as well as enjoying a special storytelling session to commemorate the annual event, which looks to celebrate and encourage a lasting love of reading and provide free books to children who may not own one of their own.

Windmill Hill Day Nursery Manager, Kayleigh Blaylock explained;

“We are always blown away by the effort our families and colleagues go to on World Book Day. This is a calendar event we always look forward to and a fantastic reminder of the magic that books bring to all of our lives. We hope our little ones continue to be inspired as together we’re aiming to nurture a love of reading and literacy which will span a lifetime.”

World Book Day is taking place on 7th March 2024.
