Woodberry colleagues celebrate Eid al-Fitr

Woodberry Eid

Festivities were well underway at Woodberry Day Nursery in Winchmore Hill as children and staff teams joined their colleague and resident expert in celebrating the festival of Eid al-Fitr.

To provide a deeper understanding of the occasion, which marks the end of Ramadan and the fasting period, Nursery Practitioner; Samiyah Aufogul, shared her knowledge and personal experiences of celebrating Eid, as well as baking her colleagues a special cake to enjoy at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Church Hill to give a better insight.

As part of the festivities, children were delighted to learn about the significance of the festival and traditional customs, including visiting loved ones, offering presents and donating money to causes to help those less fortunate, as well as looking at the music and food enjoyed.

Woodberry Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Lucy Harmanda explained;

“Celebrating Eid was a joyous and educational experience for all involved and we are hugely grateful to Samiyah for sharing her culture with us in this way. At Woodberry, we strive to create a diverse and inclusive environment where children can learn about and appreciate different cultures and traditions and this was the perfect way to promote understanding.”

Eid al-Fitr was celebrated on 10th April 2024.
