There were learning opportunities at every turn for children at Woodberry Day Nursery in Winchmore Hill as they marked Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a series of inspired activities.
At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Church Hill, children used books to co-research the pioneering activist and his pivotal role through history, before discussing his famous ‘I have a dream’ speech as a group and sharing their own wishes for the future.
As part of the experience, pre-schoolers showcased their creativity by drawing things they would like to change about the world and their own unique ambitions, before having a discussion on the importance of celebrating differences and always caring for one another.
Woodberry Day Nursery Quality Manager, Nikol Moravova explained;
“Martin Luther King Day provided an excellent platform to discuss the importance of equality, whilst learning about a truly inspirational figure. At Woodberry, ethnicity is included as a natural part of our planning process to ensure we have enabling and inclusive environments for every child in our care to thrive and flourish as individuals and embrace differences.”
Martin Luther King Jr. Day was celebrated on 16th January.
