Woodberry Day Nursery celebrate National Picnic Week

Celebrations were well underway at Woodberry Day Nursery in Winchmore Hill as delighted children marked National Picnic Week with a series of exciting activities.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Church Hill, each age-appropriate room hosted their very own picnic, complete with blankets, pillows, teddy bears and beloved books including ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ to set the scene, whilst pre-schoolers enjoyed their picnic using meal trays as part of their preparation before going to school in September.

As part of the festivities, children enjoyed food including homemade finger sandwiches, fresh fruit platters and cakes, all whilst discussing the tastes and textures they were experiencing to aid language development and building bonds with their friends whilst practicing sharing.

Woodberry Day Nursery Quality Manager, Nikol Moravova explained;

“The children had a fantastic time taking part in their picnics and this presented so many lovely learning opportunities within the rooms, from talking about healthy eating and different food groups, to reading and re-enacting stories with picnic themes to aid communication.”

National Picnic Week runs from 17^th – 25^th June 2023.
