Windmill Hill team take on Ultra Challenge for charity

Windmill Hill Ultra Challenge

A team of devoted colleagues from Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon completed the Ultra Challenge: London Winter Walk, all to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

Embarking on the 10k through the capital, the five-strong team made up of colleagues; Imogen Webb, Emily Riordan, Eliza Leadbeater, Stephanie Haygreen and Zahirah Coowar, were delighted to raise a total of £1100.00 for the cause, with donations still incoming from generous supporters, which will now help support research into congenital heart disease.

The Ultra Challenge, which started and finished at the Oval Cricket Ground in Vauxhall and headed along the Thames past famous London landmarks, is the first major fundraising challenge for the team since adopting the charity, following the end of their 2023 partnership with The Trussell Trust, with their efforts raising a total of £3,010.50 for the worthy cause.

As a company, Childbase Partnership teams and families across 44-day nurseries raised a staggering £165,615 in cash and 9267.95kgs in food donations to support the Trussell Trust in the face of record demand in 1,300 UK food bank centres throughout 2023.

Windmill Hill Day Nursery Charity Representative, Stephanie Haygreen explained;

“We had a wonderful day taking part in the Ultra Challenge, with lots of memories made. This was a great opportunity to reflect on the amazing work that the British Heart Foundation does and the important need for this charity. We are so grateful for all the kind donations we have received from our wonderful nursery families and teams, who are always so generous.”

Windmill Hill Day Nursery Manager, Kayleigh Blaylock explained;

“We are so proud of the girls for embarking on this challenge, straight off the back of our incredible year of fundraising for The Trussell Trust. As well as being incredible educators, our team are so compassionate and are always going above and beyond to think of ways to raise money for people in need, we couldn’t be prouder and are looking forward to supporting the British Heart Foundation throughout 2024.”

Windmill Hill has adopted the British Heart Foundation for a year-long fundraising drive.
