Kind-hearted families and colleagues from Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon have shown their support for the people of Ukraine with a series of initiatives at the setting.
At the award-winning setting on Windmill Hill Business Park, Whitehill Way, children and staff dressed in the colours of the Ukrainian flag to show solidarity, as well as holding a bake sale which raised a grand total of £72.57 for the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Nappies, sanitary products, torches, batteries, toiletries, first aid kits, maternity items and dried foods are also just some of the essential supplies that families from Windmill Hill have been donating to help refugees who have fled their homes with little to nothing.
As a result of their efforts, Windmill Hill, along with 44 other Childbase Partnership settings, have so far raised over £8,500 for the cause via the British Red Cross, with further fundraisers planned across nurseries which will go towards helping those affected and displaced access food, water, shelter, medicine and clothing.
Windmill Hill Day Nursery Quality Manager, Gemma Gill explained;
“Our nursery families are always incredible at getting behind the worthy causes we support but the response to our Ukraine appeal has been amazing. Everyone has been so moved by the situation there and desperate to help in any way they can. We stand with Ukraine and will continue to do what we can to support the country and its brave citizens.”
