Rowan Tree Day Nursery children enjoy London art excursion
There were learning opportunities at every turn for children at Rowan Tree Day Nursery in Welwyn Garden City as they took a trip into London to visit an immersive art gallery.
Following an interest in artists at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Guessens Road, pre-schoolers were delighted to make the exciting journey to the Frameless exhibition in Marble Arch using trains and tubes, where they were surrounded by a total of 42 masterpieces, including ‘The Scream’ by Edvard Munch and ‘Starry Night’ by Van Gogh.
During the visit, children admired the famous artwork being projected onto the walls from different angles, from lying on the floor and looking up at the ceiling, to running across the floor as the art moved, all whilst listening to the specially selected music to accompany.
Rowan Tree Day Nursery Manager, Claire Ovenden explained;
“The trip to the Frameless exhibition proved to be an incredibly rich learning experience for our children and they were captivated during their visit. They couldn’t wait to tell their families about their exciting day out and this has inspired lots of related activities back at nursery.”
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
