River View Day Nursery help local people with food bank donation
Generous parents and practitioners from River View Day Nursery in Hertford have made a donation of essential food and household items to the Hertford and District Foodbank, having pledged a year-long fundraising and donation drive for the Trussell Trust.
Following a record-rise in demand for items at food banks due to the cost-of-living crisis, families from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on North Road made contributions of products including pasta, tinned goods, toothbrushes and baby formula in efforts to keep the charity well-stocked in supplies and support local people who need it most.
River View Day Nursery Team Leader, Katie Gibbs explained;
“We are thrilled to be making this donation to The Trussell Trust. The children have really enjoyed getting involved with their parents to deliver the food and were proud to know they would be supporting others in the community. We are so grateful for the generosity everyone has shown and are looking forward to making more contributions throughout the year.”
Hertford and District Foodbank are currently appealing for long-life fruit juice, instant mash, cooking sauces, tinned fruit, tinned potatoes, tinned custard and toilet rolls.
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
