Budding young chefs from Nursery on the Green in Southall were delighted to grab a slice of the action on National Pizza Day with the opportunity to make their very own lunch creations.
After being presented with an array of fresh vegetables including peppers, sweetcorn, onions and mushroom, pre-schoolers from the award-winning setting on Thorncliffe Road were able to spread passata onto their pittas, before adding cheese and the toppings of their choice, which were then transferred onto baking trays and cooked in the oven, ready to be served.
During the exciting learning experience, children were able to practice their communication and language skills by discussing their favourite types of pizza, as well as building on their fine motor skills using child-friendly knives and practicing basic kitchen hygiene and safety.
Nursery on the Green Deputy Manager, Meera Ladva explained;
“We love to mark a wide range of occasions throughout the year and National Pizza Day is no exception. With a variety of toppings to choose from and the freedom to be as creative as they wanted, our pre-schoolers showcased their talents and made some incredible pitta pizzas. They really enjoyed tasting them and couldn’t wait to tell their families all about it.”
National Pizza Day was celebrated on 9th February 2024.
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
