There was cause for celebration at Crescent Day Nursery in Edgbaston as proud parents and practitioners learnt that the setting had achieved Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ status.
A result achieved by only 16 percent of all English Early Years providers, the Ofsted inspector praised the “exceptional curriculum” and “thought-provoking, meaningful and imaginative activities for children” at the award-winning setting on Calthorpe Road.
In the report, the inspector credited the devoted staff team who “meticulously plan exciting activities to help children make excellent progress in all areas” as well as the “outstanding” support provided for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
The inspector also admired the “beneficial self-help skills” children are learning at the setting, adding “staff are successfully preparing them for school” with a tailored school readiness programme, which includes visits to local schools and designing their very own classroom.
Ofsted inspector, Nancy Hitchcock explained;
“Parents are delighted with the care that their children receive. They speak highly of the welcoming, friendly and attentive staff. They express how much their child has developed and particularly praise the healthy meals provided.”
Crescent Day Nursery Manager, Laura Whittingham, who the inspector applauded for creating “an environment that is welcoming, positive and child focused”, said;
“We are thrilled to be named as Outstanding by Ofsted following our very first inspection. We are hugely proud of this outcome and are so grateful to everyone who has supported us since our opening. We are very lucky to have such supportive parents who, like us, are committed to giving every child the best possible nursery experience.”
