Generous parents and practitioners from Nursery on the Green in Southall have made a donation of Easter eggs to the Ealing Foodbank to help local people who need it most.
Following a record-rise in demand for items at food banks due to the cost-of-living crisis, families from the award-winning day nursery on Thorncliffe Road made the incredible contribution of 234 chocolate eggs to ensure every child would receive a treat this Easter.
Having pledged a year-long fundraising and donation drive for The Trussell Trust, parents and colleagues from the setting have been taking part in collections of essential food and household items to keep the charity well stocked in supplies to serve the community.
Nursery on the Green Deputy Manager, Meera Ladva explained;
“We have been absolutely blown away by the generosity of our nursery families. We realise times are hard at the moment and we really want to make a difference to people in our area. We are delighted to be making this donation to the food bank alongside our regular collection and hope this will ensure that lots of children have a happy Easter.”
The Ealing Foodbank are currently appealing for breakfast cereal, savoury crackers, rice, UHT milk, chickpeas, kidney beans, soup, cooking oil, nappies and tinned fruit and veg.
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
