Children and colleagues from Woodlands Day Nursery in Barnet have been showcasing their creativity with a series of themed crafting activities in the run up to Christmas.
At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Orchard Road, pre-schoolers were delighted to immerse themselves in the festivities, from creating Christmas decorations using an array of materials and experimenting with cinnamon infused playdough, to practicing their writing skills by penning Christmas cards and developing motor skills with present wrapping.
Meanwhile, staff teams were each set the challenge within their individual age-appropriate rooms of creating a special Christmas character, with designs including elf-inspired cartoons based on real colleagues and a reindeer and Santa’s sleigh made from recycled materials.
Woodlands Day Nursery Business Administrator, Sophia Southam explained;
“We have loved preparing for Christmas at Woodlands and these celebrations have presented so many imaginative opportunities for both children and colleagues. This is always a magical time of year in nursery and a brilliant way to round off a year of learning about special calendar events such as Rosh Hashana and Diwali.”
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
