November celebrations at Nursery on the Green

Festivities were well underway at Nursery on the Green in Southall as children took part in a series of special activities to mark Anti-Bullying Week, Remembrance Day and Diwali.

At the award-winning setting on Thorncliffe Road, pre-schoolers and staff joined thousands of people across the country in wearing odd and brightly coloured socks for Anti-Bullying Week, where they sang songs and read stories with themes of kindness and friendship, before having discussions on the importance of treating everyone with care and respect.

To commemorate Remembrance Day and honour those who lost their lives in conflict, both children and colleagues dressed in red and learnt about the significance of the day and the symbolism of the poppy, as well as creating related artwork using recycled materials.

For Diwali, families were invited into nursery to join their children in creating rangoli patterns and decorating traditional diya lamps, all whilst raising funds for The Trussell Trust and learning about the Festival of Lights and the message of the triumph of good over evil.

Nursery on the Green Manager, Emma Littler explained;

“We have had a fantastic week celebrating all these special events and there have been so many teachable moments for our children, who are hugely inquisitive. The activities on offer aim to promote kindness, empathy and inclusivity for all involved, and we have loved seeing our little ones immerse themselves in the festivities. We are also delighted to have raised money for The Trussell Trust in the process, whilst catching up with our lovely families.”
