World Book Day fun for Sandfield Day Nursery children

Alice in Wonderland, Where’s Wally and The Gruffalo were just some of the books that children and colleagues from Sandfield Day Nursery in Headington took inspiration from as they dressed up as beloved characters for World Book Day.

As part of the festivities, pre-schoolers from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Sandfield Road shared their favourite stories and enjoyed a costume competition complete with prizes to commemorate the 26th annual celebration, which looks to honour stories and encourage a lasting love of reading.

Sandfield Day Nursery Manager, Kim Hambridge explained;

“We’ve had a brilliant time admiring the incredible effort that has gone into the costumes and exploring some of our favourite books across the nursery. Storytelling is not only brilliant for capturing the imagination, but essential for aiding language development, building literary confidence and helping us to understand emotions.”

World Book Day was created by UNESCO on 23rd April 1995.
