World Book Day fun at Julia Durbin Day Nursery

Snow White, Where’s Wally and an astronaut were just some of the characters that children and colleagues from Julia Durbin Day Nursery in Headington embodied through costume as part of World Book Day festivities at the setting.

As part of the celebrations, pre-schoolers from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Roosevelt Drive shared their favourite stories and took part in special activities, including creating a vegetable superhero, inspired by the beloved book ‘Supertato’, to commemorate the annual event which looks to promote stories and encourage a lasting love of reading in children.

Julia Durbin Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Aimee Corcoran explained;

“World Book Day provides a brilliant opportunity to celebrate reading and showcase creativity, which has even been extended at home through the wonderfully creative costumes families have made together, including space helmets and backpacks. Storytelling offers so many benefits, including aiding language development, building literary confidence and helping us to understand our emotions.”
