World Book Day celebrations at Windmill Hill Day Nursery

Children and colleagues from Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon were delighted to dress up as their favourite characters and take part in a range of special activities as part of World Book Day festivities at the setting.

Cinderella, Bing the Bunny and Woody from ‘Toy Story’ were just some of the beloved literary characters impersonated by pre-schoolers from the day nursery on Windmill Business Park, Whitehill Way to commemorate the annual event, which looks to celebrate books and encourage a lasting love of reading.

As part of the celebrations, pre-schoolers shared stories and were encouraged to create their very own book character using resources from home, with the lucky winner receiving a Julia Donaldson story sack.

Windmill Hill Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Kayleigh Blaylock explained;

“Every year the children across nursery make an amazing effort with their costumes, and this year has been no different. World Book Day provides a brilliant opportunity to showcase our creativity, build confidence and celebrate the power of reading.”
