Windmill Hill Day Nursery children celebrate Diwali

From making beautiful Rangoli patterns using rice to creating traditional Barfi sweets to share with their families, children from Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon have been delighted to join millions of people worldwide in celebrating Diwali.

At the day nursery on Windmill Business Park, Whitehill Way, children of all ages joined in with festivities for the Hindu ‘Festival of Lights’, which included making special Diva pots out of clay and filling them with candles, as well as listening to the story of Rama and Sita to understand why the occasion is important to so many.

Windmill Hill Day Nursery Manager, Lora Worthington explained;

“We have a number of children and colleagues who celebrate Diwali so it’s been wonderful to include everybody at nursery in this special occasion. Not only do these activities help to promote cultural awareness, respect and give a better understanding of the wider world around us, but offer meaningful life lessons as the festival celebrates the triumph of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.”
