Welwyn Day Nursery raises £830 in Stay Awake Challenge
Eyes were wide open all night at Rowan Tree Day Nursery on Guessens Road in Welwyn Garden City, as practitioners attempted to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Whilst the snow was falling outside, everyone at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery got changed into their comfy clothes in preparation for the evening ahead.
Rowan Tree’s Charity Coordinator and Rom Leader Katie Young explained:
“It was a real challenge to stay awake from 9pm-6am but the camaraderie kept us all going. Alzheimer’s is unfortunately a disease which is on the increase so it’s a great cause to raise money for.”
Caffeine in the form of tea and coffee was consumed in copious quantities along with lots of sweet treats. To pass the time, staff played board and card games and they kept background music on for motivation.
Rowan Tree Manager Claire Ovenden said:
“I am enormously proud of all of our employees who took part in this challenge, and who helped to fundraise for it.”
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity and provides expert information, training and support services to those who need their help. Their research programme focuses on improving care for people with dementia today and finding a cure for tomorrow.
