Welly Waddle at Windmill Hill Day Nursery
Dedicated families and colleagues from Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon were delighted to join together for a mile-long ‘Welly Waddle’ in order to raise vital funds for charity, complete with a nature scavenger hunt in the great outdoors.
Organised by resident Charity Representative, Emily Riordan, the event saw the group from the setting on Windmill Hill Business Park, Whitehill Way put on their wellies and collect sponsorship from generous supporters, before enjoying an autumn hamper raffle, filled with seasonal treats including a throw and costa voucher.
As a result of the fundraising initiative, a grand total of £855.00 has been raised for Cancer Research UK, with donations still incoming for the worthy cause.
Windmill Hill Day Nursery Charity Representative, Emily Riordan explained;
“We had a fantastic turnout to the Welly Waddle and this proved to be a brilliant social opportunity for both the adults and children. Not only did we have a fantastic time raising money for charity, but getting closer to the natural world around us. At the end we enjoyed some well-deserved refreshments and the children received a certificate for their incredible participation skills and effort in helping others.”
The initiative is the most recent fundraising activity for Windmill Hill, who have also enjoyed dress up days, colleague head shaving, virtual balloon races and more in their efforts to raise money for CRUK, who in December announced they had been forced to cut research funding by £45 million due to losses from the pandemic.
The nursery adopted Cancer Research UK in 2020 for a year-long fundraising drive, which has now been extended until the end of 2021.
