Families at Devonshire Day Nursery in Chiswick were delighted to come together for a fun-filled Summer Fete, all while raising £553.00 for The Sick Children’s Trust.
There was something for everyone to enjoy at the setting on Bennett Street, including a photo booth complete with props, face painting, biscuit decorating, lucky dip, spin the wheel, a penalty shoot-out and hook-a-duck. Children also had the chance to get creative with a range of arts and crafts, while a bottle tombola offered plenty of excitement for parents.
One of the highlights of the day was a special visit from ZooLab, who introduced families to a fascinating selection of creepy crawlies, providing plenty of opportunities for children to get up close and learn more about some unusual creatures. The fair also featured a raffle, with generous prizes donated by local businesses, including a hairdresser voucher, a meal for two and the chance to win ‘Stanley’ the giant bear.
Families were also able to find out more about the important work of The Sick Children’s Trust, with a representative from the charity joining the event and speaking to parents throughout the day about how their generous donations would help provide free accommodation, and emotional and practical support to families who need to be close to their ill child while they receive treatment in hospital.
Devonshire Day Nursery Manager, Emmy Avery explained;
“Our Summer Fete was a fantastic opportunity to bring our nursery community together while raising money for such an important cause. We’re incredibly grateful to our families, colleagues and local businesses for helping us raise £553 for The Sick Children’s Trust. It was especially meaningful to have a representative from the charity join us and share how our fundraising will help support families during an incredibly difficult time. We’re so proud of everyone who helped make the day such a success.”
