Southall nursery children ‘explore the world’
The ‘wider world’ has been the hot topic recently at the Ofsted-rated Outstanding Nursery on the Green Day Nursery in Southall.
This topic was inspired by the books The Frog and The Wide World and was expanded when the children demonstrated an interest it. Every day for two weeks, the children have been adventurers, discovering new countries. The children brought in backpacks, wrote out their own passports and prepared sandwiches to pack in their adventure bags.
China was the latest adventure where the children learnt about daily life in China, studied the Chinese flag and enjoyed sampling some traditional food.
Nursery on the Green Manager Dee Townsend said:
“Knowledge and understanding of the world is an area of learning and development in the EYFS, and this topic is a great example of how children really get involved and absorbed in a topic at Nursery on the Green. Learning should be fun and we have tried to bring different cultures to life which has really engaged the children.”
