Smiles all round at Green Park

Green Park Smile Month

There were exciting learning opportunities at every turn for children at Green Park Day Nursery in Reading as they received a visit from the dentist to mark National Smile Month.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ setting on South Oak Way, pre-schoolers welcomed professionals from local Olive Tree Dental, who delivered an interactive masterclass on how to brush properly and best care for their teeth, teaching the importance of early oral hygiene.

As part of the visit, the children took part in a fun sorting activity using a model tooth and a blue ‘germ’ character. They were asked to decide which foods are harmful to teeth and which foods help keep teeth healthy, helping them understand the effects of different foods.

Grace, the visiting dentist, then demonstrated the correct tooth-brushing technique using a large model set of teeth and toothbrush. Here she explained how long children should brush their teeth for and showed them the correct angle to hold their brush for effective cleaning.

The children enthusiastically shared that they brush their teeth every morning and evening at home, demonstrating their growing awareness of healthy habits.

Green Park Deputy Manager, Grace Critcher explained;

“We were delighted to welcome Grace and the team from Olive Tree Dental to support our National Smile Month activities. The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and learned valuable lessons about caring for their teeth in a fun and engaging way. Experiences like these help children develop healthy habits that can last a lifetime.”

The visit formed part of the nursery’s ongoing commitment to providing enriching experiences that support children’s health, wellbeing, and understanding of the world.

National Smile Month takes place from 11th May to 11th June 2026.
