Two brave colleagues from West Downs Day Nursery in Winchester took fundraising to new heights as they completed a charity skydive for a cause close to their hearts.
Taking to the skies on World Down Syndrome Day, Deputy Manager; Danni Markwick and Nursery Practitioner; Amber Mears made the jump from 13,500ft over Salisbury Plain, inspired by one of their beloved nursery children who has Down syndrome.
Hoping to raise awareness and show their support, the duo were thrilled to raise £1400.00 for Down Syndrome UK with the backing of generous nursery supporters and the Childbase Partnership Charity Support Fund. The funds raised will directly help families, provide education and training, and improve the lives of people with Down syndrome.
The Childbase Partnership Charity Support Fund is in place to help worthy causes outside of the company’s adopted charity of the year, The Sick Children’s Trust, with all colleagues across the company able to apply for backing to benefit the causes that matter most to them.
West Downs Deputy Manager, Danni Markwick explained;
“Taking part in this skydive was both an incredible and emotional experience. We wanted to do something meaningful to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day and show our support for a child who is very special to us and their family. Seeing the generosity and encouragement from our colleagues, parents and the wider community has been truly overwhelming. We are so proud to have raised funds for Down Syndrome UK and hope it helps make a positive difference to the lives of many families going forward.”
