Showcasing musical talent at Grasshoppers Day Nursery
After being captivated by the festivities of ‘World Nursery Rhyme Week’, children from Grasshoppers Day Nursery in St Albans were delighted to experience live renditions of their favourite rhymes thanks to one of their talented Nursery Practitioners.
At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on York Road, pre-schoolers were gifted with a real acoustic guitar to help inspire their musical interests, following the previous addition of a piano to the setting, and were thrilled to hear Nursery Practitioner, Lauren Stephens use it to showcase her skills to the mesmerized group.
From ‘Row, Row Your Boat’ to ‘Wheels on the Bus’, children joined in with the song actions and sang along, before learning more about the guitar from Lauren herself.
Grasshoppers Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Monika Kelly explained;
“We love to nurture the children’s interests in nursery and they were delighted to have this real life learning experience with the help of Lauren, who has been a brilliant teacher. Playing instruments at an early age offers a huge range of benefits, including helping to develop gross motor skills, supporting sensory development and enhancing hand-eye co-ordination, so we can’t wait to continue with this.”
