Preparing for Mother’s Day at Nursery on the Green
In order to celebrate the special women in their lives, talented children from Nursery on the Green Day Nursery in Redbourn have been making handmade gifts for Mother’s Day.
At the day nursery on South Common, pre-schoolers have been showcasing their creativity by decorating tiles with special messages and handprints, along with a poem, all whilst raising money for charity. As a result of their efforts, pre-schoolers have raised a total of £125.00 for Cancer Research UK, with donations from generous parents still incoming.
As well as creating further gifts and cards for the occasion, children were delighted to discuss what their mums mean to them, as well as their favourite things to do together.
Nursery on the Green Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Jodie Smart explained;
“The children have had a brilliant time making presents for their mums ahead of Sunday, and we are so proud of them for the money they have raised in the process for such a worthy cause. Our nursery families are hugely supportive and we hope next year we can invite them into nursery for the celebrations, once Covid restrictions have eased.”
Nursery on the Green adopted Cancer Research UK in 2020 for a year-long fundraising drive, which has now been extended until the end of 2021 due to Covid-19. As a result of the pandemic, the charity are currently facing predicted losses of 20-25% in fundraising income.
