Pre-school protest at Meadow View Day Nursery

Young environmentalists from Meadow View Day Nursery in Newport Pagnell are making their voices heard with a protest to benefit the planet.

Children from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in Westbury Lane joined thousands of students nationwide on Friday 15th February in making their feelings clear on climate change.

The protests, which are taking place in more than 2,000 towns and cities in over 100 countries, aim to gain the attention of government officials in order to encourage them to take action on key environmental issues.

Displaying their hand-crafted signs proudly outside the nursery building, pre-schoolers encouraged passers-by to remember the three R’s; reduce, reuse and recycle.

Meadow View Day Nursery Manager, Elkie Taylor explained;

“As well as the protest we’ve been out this week litter picking in the local area and discussing why plastics can be bad. It’s lovely to see the respect and care the children have for the planet, and this is something that will stand them in great stead for life.”

Meadow View Day Nursery holds a prestigious Green Flag award for exceptional environmental conservation and awareness. The nursery is also powered by green electricity from the sun and wind, and has nearly ‘zero’ waste to landfill.
