Pennypot Day Nursery children receive construction area donation
Children from Pennypot Day Nursery in Chobham were delighted to receive a donation of supplies to add to their growing construction themed play area, thanks to kind-hearted builders’ merchants within the local community.
Bricks, sand, hard hats and high-vis jackets were just some of the items that were generously donated by Travis Perkins in Crowthorne and Jewsons in Bracknell to pre-schoolers from the day nursery on Pennypot Lane, following their interest in designing structures and creating exciting builds such as bridges and houses.
The budding architects have been analysing an array of materials in order to establish which supplies suit their structures best, as well as drawing blueprints for their creations using graph paper and clipboards. Children have also enjoyed dressing up in protective clothing to get a real sense of the role as they work.
Pennypot Day Nursery Manager, Carol McDonough explained;
“We love to follow the children’s interests in nursery and want to send our heartfelt thanks to Travis Perkins and Jewsons for enhancing this learning experience for the children. The construction area is hugely popular with both the boys and girls and is great for capturing their imaginations. Not only is this initiative teaching them the value of teamwork and problem solving, but helps to develop their maths, communication and fine motor skills in the process.”
