Parent Training Evening at Windmill Hill

At Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon, children weren’t the only ones learning new things as parents attended a special training and support evening at the setting.

Designed to support families on key aspects of early childhood development, the event gave parents the opportunity to move around different sessions led by the nursery’s experienced staff team, each focusing on practical topics including healthy eating, car safety, potty training, emotional literacy, dummy use, and managing separation anxiety.

As part of the experience, Windmill Hill’s talented chef prepared and cooked a selection of dishes from nursery menus for parents to sample, giving them a taste of some of their children’s favourites, as well as taking part in discussions on ingredients and nutrition.

Additional interactive sessions included Boogie Mites and baby sign, with Quality and Training Advisor; Elayne Collins, on hand to guide parents and answer questions. These sessions offered practical ideas to support communication, movement, and home learning.

Windmill Hill Quality Manager, Gemma Gill explained;

“We were delighted with the turnout and it was a pleasure to welcome so many parents who were actively engaged throughout the evening. Opportunities to share ideas, answer questions, and develop knowledge together are key to building strong partnerships with families and reinforcing that learning continues beyond the nursery.”
