Marking ‘World Cancer Day’ at Devonshire Day Nursery

To mark ‘World Cancer Day’, children and colleagues from Devonshire Day Nursery in Chiswick dressed in pink and blue to represent the colours of their charity partner, Cancer Research UK, spread awareness of the disease and inspire action.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Bennett Street, pre-schoolers were delighted to have their faces painted, whilst colleagues were all entered into a sweepstake competition for the occasion. Having adopted Cancer Research UK at the start of 2020 for a year-long fundraising drive, the team have shown determination to help the worthy cause despite the challenges presented by Covid-19 and as a result have raised an incredible £2,666.93 for the charity so far.

As Cancer Research UK are currently facing predicted losses of 20-25% in fundraising income due to the pandemic, Devonshire Day Nursery have now extended their charity partnership until the end of 2021.

Devonshire Day Nursery Charity Representative, Erica Lee explained;

“As a nursery we love to support worthy causes and try to involve the children in this wherever we can. Despite the pandemic, our nursery families have continued to show such generosity towards the charities we support and we are very proud to be able to help them during such a challenging period.”

World Cancer Day falls on Thursday 4th February 2021 and aims to raise worldwide attention of the disease and inspire action for a cancer-free future.
