Marking ‘National Apprenticeship Week’ at Grasshoppers Day Nursery
The spotlight was on prospective practitioners from Grasshoppers Day Nursery in Aylesbury as they were celebrated by proud colleagues as part of ‘National Apprenticeship Week’ festivities at the award-winning setting.
As well as being shown appreciation with a range of treats including flowers and goodie bags, the group of four Apprentices; Chelsea Darwin Ashton Angel, Uzma Babi, Rebecca Powell and Humaira Zaheer, are also being offered permanent jobs if they successfully complete the bespoke Childbase Partnership training programme, which is designed to give them lasting careers at the company.
The group are not only benefitting from increased study time away from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Wendover Road, but also a full range of new training opportunities. This is following in the footsteps of other former apprentices at the nursery who are now qualified practitioners with ‘key person’ responsibilities.
Grasshoppers Day Nursery Apprentice, Chelsea Darwin Ashton Angel said;
“I’m enjoying my apprenticeship so much – every day I get the chance to learn something new and continue to create special bonds with the children and my Grasshoppers family. I’m happy to be part of such a supportive team who encourage me in my studies and praise my achievements.”
Grasshoppers Day Nursery Manager, Rachel Gooden explained;
“We are hugely grateful to our Apprentices for all the hard work they do and the brilliant contributions they make to nursery life, especially in such challenging times. Their talent and ambition is clear to see and we have been incredibly proud to continue to watch them progress professionally and grow in confidence.”
Head of Childbase Training Academy of Excellence, June Sadler explained;
“All the hard work of our Apprentices is really paying off and they have been a great support to our children and families, especially during the lockdown periods. We are now very excited as we open our own Childbase Training Academy of Excellence and recruit our first cohort of 44 learners on to the Early Years Standards.”
The Childbase Training Academy of Excellence opened in January 2021 and currently offers learners Apprenticeships at Level 2 and Level 3 in Early Years, with plans for further courses later in the year.
