Maples Day Nursery unveil new library on World Book Day
World Book Day proved to be extra special for children at Maples Day Nursery in Winchester as a brand new library was unveiled at the setting.
Filled with books, parent resources and story sacks to share and borrow, the grand opening of the library at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Hatherley Road was met with delight from children and their families.
To celebrate the new addition, a classical music concert especially designed for children was held at the nursery, consisting of a narration of ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ by Roald Dahl and accompanied by compositions from Paganini and Bach, performed by musicians playing the harp and the violin.
Maples Day Nursery Manager, Sian Murphy explained;
“We are absolutely delighted to be able to unveil our brand new library, especially on a day which is so significant. Our children love stories and reading, and we hope that this new space will nurture their interests further.”
“Storytelling is not only essential for aiding language development, but captivating the imagination and building literary confidence too”, she added.
