Maples Day Nursery children visit the Titanic museum
Following a recent class project on the topic of the Titanic, children from Maples Day Nursery in Winchester were delighted to take a trip to Southampton’s ‘SeaCity Museum’.
At the museum, pre-schoolers from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in Hatherley Road were able to explore the vast Titanic exhibition, which documented the famous story of the ship and the people on board it.
Here children were able to try on traditional clothing from this time, view the property that was found on board, shovel coal into a replica engine fire and even try their hand at signalling the SOS horn.
Maples Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Chelsea Basley explained;
“Visiting the museum was a wonderful learning experience for the children and the perfect way to finish our project. They were captivated throughout and even the museum staff were amazed by their knowledge.”
