Lockdown Heroes Day at Cedars Day Nursery

Dressed as superheroes and inspirational figures from over the course of the pandemic, children and colleagues from Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard were delighted to put on costumes and celebrate their own lockdown heroes.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Mentmore Road, pre-schoolers enjoyed a series of themed activities to mark one year since the first lockdown, whilst hardworking colleagues were delighted to receive thank you postcards with personal messages from grateful parents, as well as an afternoon tea hamper, hero display and extended breaks from their proud managers.

On one postcard a parent wrote;

"You are our heroes because the environment and care you provide in the nursery has truly limited the impact the pandemic could have had on our children's wellbeing. You always have a kind word, always take the time to be considerate and have dealt with this year with pragmatism, strength and humour."

Cedars Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Laura Farrell explained;

“We have had a brilliant time celebrating all of the amazing key workers and individuals who have made a difference throughout the pandemic, including our own colleagues. We have also had some really lovely messages sent to us from nursery families which means so much, especially during these times.”

Using money from its ‘Charity Support Fund’, which is in place to help worthy causes away from fundraising partner ‘Cancer Research UK’, Childbase Partnership is also making a donation to ‘Duty to Care’, a charity which supports the wellbeing of healthcare professionals.
