Leprechauns and four leaved clovers at Swindon Day Nursery
St Patrick’s Day has been celebrated at Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Whitehall Way with a number of green themed activities.
Children and practitioners have dressed up in green to mark the traditional Irish celebration of their patron saint.
As well as dressing up, there has been four leave clover threading, sensory play with a green theme and pepper painting to create shamrock saints.
Windmill Hill Manager Lora Worthington said:
“At Windmill Hill, we celebrate a wide range of different cultural and religious celebrations. These events help to promote diversity but also educate children about the world around them as encouraged in the EYFS.”
St Patrick’s Day is celebrated across the world by people of Irish heritage but the festival has its roots firmly in Ireland. St Patrick is famously said to have eradicated all the snakes from Ireland and was adopted by the county as its patron saint, for the promotion of Christianity in the country.
