Julia Durbin children receive Story Museum visit

Celebrations were well underway at Julia Durbin Day Nursery in Headington as practitioners and pre-schoolers marked International Children’s Book Day with a memorable experience.

At the setting on Roosevelt Drive, young readers were delighted to welcome a talented visitor from The Story Museum in Oxford, who delivered an interactive storytelling session to captivated pre-schoolers, complete with a selection of colourful props and puppets.

Capturing the imaginations of the group, children eagerly took to the garden where they were fully immersed in the session, joining in with actions and role play in the sunshine. Here the group explored, moved, and played together, using their creativity to bring tales to life.

Julia Durbin Manager, Emma Wallbridge explained;

“International Children’s Book Day is always a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the magic of stories, but this year’s visit made it truly special for our children. We loved having The Story Museum Visit as experiences like this help nurture a lifelong love of reading, creativity, and confidence, and we’re so grateful to have shared such a memorable day together.”

International Children’s Book Day is celebrated on 2nd April 2026.
