Guinness World Record achievement at Knowle Green Day Nursery
There was cause for celebration at Knowle Green Day Nursery in Staines as Nursery Practitioner, Amie White, was named as an official Guinness World Records title holder for her involvement in the Virgin Money London Marathon in 2020.
As the 40th annual race could not physically take place due to Covid-restrictions, Amie, who has worked at the day nursery on Knowle Green for 20 years and ran in aid of Cancer Research UK, joined 37,965 others from all corners of the world in taking part in the virtual London Marathon on Sunday 4th October 2020, giving the event the record title for the most users to run a remote marathon in 24 hours.
With the use of the official Virgin London Marathon App, participants were able to log their 26.2 miles between the hours of 00:00:00 and 23:59, before crossing the virtual ‘finish line’ and earning their coveted medal for the impressive achievement.
Knowle Green Day Nursery Practitioner, Amie White explained;
“This was my first marathon and it was such a rewarding experience. I was delighted to raise over £2,000 for Cancer Research UK, and to be named as a Guinness World Record holder makes this all the more special. I hope to one day be able to run the marathon in person and continue fundraising for such fantastic causes.”
Knowle Green Day Nursery adopted Cancer Research UK in 2020 for a year-long fundraising drive, which has now been extended until the end of 2021 due to Covid-19. As a result of the pandemic, the charity are currently facing predicted losses of 20-25% in fundraising income.
