Green Park Day Nursery children create their own garden centre

After taking inspiration from their regular eco-focused activities, children from Green Park Day Nursery in Reading were delighted to create their very own garden centre.

Complete with shelves filled with potted plants, picture prompts and related books to help the inquisitive pre-schoolers research, practitioners and children from the day nursery in South Oak Way transformed their dedicated role play area to support learning, spark creativity and continue progressing with their Eco-Schools curriculum.

Green Park are the proud holders of a prestigious ‘Green Flag’ award, the highest accolade in the internationally recognised Eco-Schools scheme, which is awarded for exceptional environmental conservation and awareness practices.

Green Park Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Lisa Manston explained;

“We are having a brilliant time finding new and innovative ways to teach the children about caring for our planet, and the garden centre has proved extremely popular. As well as learning basic environmental messages, the role play area has provided the chance to practice skills such as language development and mathematics.”
