The Great British Pennypot Bake Off

The gloves were off at Pennypot Day Nursery in Chobham as each room team was tasked with creating the best showstopper cake in aid of mental health charity, ‘Mind’.

Competing for the title of the ‘Great British Pennypot Bake Off’ champions, practitioners from the day nursery in Pennypot Lane were challenged to include three essential elements in their designs; three types of icing, piping and chocolate.

After submitting their stunning entries, colleagues waited nervously as parents judged the cakes based on both taste and design, before declaring the office team as worthy winners for their candy themed masterpiece.

Each of the five cakes have now been auctioned off to both parents and practitioners, helping to raise a grand total of £145 for Mind.

Pennypot has adopted Mind, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales which offers specialised services, advice and support to those living with a mental health problem, for a year-long fundraising drive.

“We aim to make a real difference when it comes to supporting worthy causes and Mind is reaching out to about 14 million people a year in the UK who are experiencing a mental health problem,” said Carol McDonough, Nursery Manager.

Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Money raised will fund the charity’s work including the Mind Infoline and campaigning to secure a better deal for everybody who experiences a mental health problem.
