The Great British Lime Grove Bake Off
Cakes, cookies and brownies were just some of the treats on offer at Lime Grove Day Nursery in Hemel Hempstead as parents and staff submitted their entries for a ‘Bake Off’, all in the name of charity.
At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in Park Road, parents and staff competed for floral arrangements and prosecco as prizes, with all proceeds going to mental health charity ‘Mind’.
A tasting team of Nursery Chefs decided on the winning entries, with two first prize places being awarded to parents and Kelly Climpson, Deputy Manager claiming the staff award.
Lime Grove Deputy Manager, April Hughes explained;
“The event was a huge success and it was amazing to see how many talented bakers there are among us. We’d like to say a big thank you to everybody that took part and supported as we managed to raise a fantastic £153 for Mind.”
Lime Grove has adopted Mind, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales which offers specialised services, advice and support to those living with a mental health problem, for a year-long fundraising drive.
“We aim to make a real difference when it comes to supporting worthy causes and Mind is reaching out to about 14 million people a year in the UK who are experiencing a mental health problem,” said Claire Heath, Nursery Manager.
Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Money raised will fund the charity’s work including the Mind Infoline and campaigning to secure a better deal for everybody who experiences a mental health problem.
