Getting back to nature at Knowle Green Day Nursery

Summer holidays became a reality for children at Knowle Green Day Nursery in Staines as practitioners brought the excitement to them with a camping trip outside.

After discussing their past holidays and why trips this year were less likely, pre-schoolers from the day nursery in Knowle Green were delighted to build their very own tent, working together to ensure it was sturdy and manage any occurring risks.

The children then enjoyed their dinner round the campfire whilst talking about whether they’d been on similar holidays before. This led the group to read ‘The Gruffalo’ as one child’s favourite camping activity was a Gruffalo hunt in the woods.

Knowle Green Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Chelsea Basley explained;

“As summer holidays are looking unlikely this year, we really wanted to create a memorable experience for the children and replicate this in the best way possible. We fully recognise the positive impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, physical and emotional development and the pre-schoolers had a brilliant time.”
