Fundraising triumph at Sandfield Day Nursery
From fancy dress days and raffles to sponsored walks and bake sales, kind-hearted families and colleagues from Sandfield Day Nursery in Headington have been pulling out all the stops to raise vital funds for charity throughout the course of the pandemic.
Having adopted Cancer Research UK at the start of 2020 for a year-long fundraising drive, the team from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Sandfield Road have shown determination to help the worthy cause despite the challenges presented by Covid-19 and as a result have raised a staggering £4,297.91 for the charity so far.
As Cancer Research UK are currently facing predicted losses of 20-25% in fundraising income due to the pandemic, Sandfield Day Nursery have now extended their charity partnership until the end of 2021, with further upcoming initiatives including creating special pancake packs for families, whilst 22 colleagues have each pledged to walk a total of 56 miles throughout the month of February.
Sandfield Day Nursery Deputy Manager and Charity Representative, Mary Ellis said;
“Raising money for charity has always been very important to us as a team, and despite the pandemic, this year has been no different. We are so grateful to our nursery families who are incredibly generous in supporting our fundraising efforts, as well as selfless nursery colleagues who have made gestures which include donating their wages from paid team training events to Cancer Research UK. Despite this past year being tough all round, everyone has shown such kindness and consideration for those less fortunate, which fills us with pride.”
World Cancer Day falls on Thursday 4th February 2021 and aims to raise worldwide attention of the disease and inspire action for a cancer-free future.
