Fun at the farm for Lavenders Day Nursery children
Chickens, goats and sheep were just some of the animals that delighted children from Lavenders Day Nursery in Bedford got to meet as they received a visit from a pop-up farm.
At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in Bushmead Avenue, experienced handlers taught the children all about the animals, what they eat and how to care for them, before introducing them to the star of the show; a Shetland pony.
To extend the learning experience, practitioners have created a range of themed activities for the classroom, including animal sound games and drawing sessions.
Lavenders Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Jessica D’Arcy explained;
“The farm visit was a brilliant experience for the children and they loved stroking the animals and learning more about the care they require. For the pre-schoolers who might not have pets at home, this is a great opportunity to learn about the responsibility in caring for other living things.”
