Firefighters visit Grasshoppers Day Nursery children
Children from Grasshoppers Day Nursery in St Albans were delighted to receive a visit from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue, following a special request via post.
After learning about occupations and the topic of ‘people that help us’, children from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in York Road penned a letter to the firefighters inviting them to visit, before hand-delivering it to the local post box.
Having gratefully accepted the offer, the team visited with their fire engine and gave children a tour of the emergency vehicle, as well as demonstrating how they extinguish fires and the equipment used to do so.
Grasshoppers Day Nursery Team Leader, Jodie Smart explained;
“We are so grateful to Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue for taking time out of their busy schedules to come and visit. The children were fascinated to learn more about the fire service and now have a much greater understanding of the important work they do within our community.”
